Our Lady of Kazan

Our Lady of Kazan, also called Theotokos of Kazan, was a holy icon of the highest stature within the Russian Orthodox Church, representing the Virgin Mary as the protector and patroness of the city of Kazan. Her feast days are July 21 and November 4 (which is also the Day of National Unity).
According to tradition, the icon was discovered on July 8, 1579, underground in the city of Kazan by a little girl, Matrona, to whom the location of the image was revealed by the Theotokos, the Blessed Virgin Mary, in a Marian apparition. The original icon was kept in the Theotokos Monastery of Kazan, built to commemorate the spot where it had been discovered.
Kazan Monastery of the Theotokos where the icon was conserved until 1904. Invocation of the Virgin Mary through the icon was credited by the Russian commanders, Dmitry Pozharsky and Mikhail Kutuzov, with helping the country to repel the Polish invasion of 1612, the Swedish invasion of 1709, and Napoleon's invasion of 1812.

See for yourself on Dec. 21st, the first day of northern winter, when the full Moon passes almost dead-center through Earth’s shadow. Is it the source of new life? I would hope for change in our life. December 21 is the day of change. Isn't it?

You may think that I can tell only the bad stories. It is not. There is new in art, the new view of the world, if you want . You have to know it because it's your development. I tell you about an artist Valentin Massov. He is the genius of XX century. His art is  chance to seriously reflect on the creative development of mankind. We are not monkeys, we're people and we need to develop as people and not like animals. Valentin Massov's art can set an example for us. This is the example of belief, adherence to art and proper development of talent. The Bible is begun with the words: "The Word was at the beginning..." But I would say:" The Light was at the beginning..." and his paintings are the illustration for these words. Valentin Massov did what nobody has done yet everything that is left by the art on the Earth.

Today is the beginning of our salvation, And the revelation of the eternal mystery! The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin As Gabriel announces the coming of Grace. Together with him let us cry to the Theotokos: "Rejoice, O Full of Grace, the Lord is with you!" The Annunciation (anglicised from the Latin Vulgate Luke 1:26-39 Annuntiatio nativitatis Christi), also referred to as the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Annunciation of Our Lady or Annunciation of the Lord, is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Gabriel told Mary to name her son Jesus, meaning "Saviour".
